We’ve been busy building a few new ways to play Word Scrapes. Some add friendly competition. Some celebrate the progress you’ve already made. All three give your words a little more weight.
Meet Word Duels
Duels turn Word Scrapes into a three-round battle between two players.
You and your rival take turns completing the same challenge, so you don’t need to be online at the same moment. Play your round when it’s your turn, then come back to see how your opponent answered.
And because a proper word battle should come down to the words, power-ups stay out of Duels. It’s the same challenge, the same rules, and no clever item tucked up anyone’s sleeve.
You can face another player through matchmaking or challenge a friend directly. Either way, we suspect a few quiet rivalries are about to begin.
Same letters. Same rules. May the best word finder win.
Find your place on the leaderboards
We’re also adding two separate leaderboards.
The Campaign leaderboard celebrates the stars you’ve earned while making your way through the saga. The Duels leaderboard tracks victories against other players.
Signed-in players can see the top word finders, check their own position, and discover who is sitting just a few places ahead. Possibly a friend. Possibly a future nemesis.
Earn achievements worth keeping
Not every victory needs to be about beating someone else.
Achievements celebrate the smaller stories that happen while you play: finding bonus words, expanding your vocabulary, winning your first battle, and making your way through the campaign.
Each completed achievement earns a collectible medal saved in your Profile. You can look back at everything you’ve accomplished and share a favorite medal when one feels especially well earned.
Some will arrive naturally. Others may give you a reason to replay a level, hunt for one more hidden word, or try something you normally skip.
A bigger world for words
Word Scrapes began with a simple idea: finding a word should feel like it does something.
These additions take that idea a little further. Now a word can move you up the rankings, earn a medal, or make the difference between victory and defeat against another player.
We can’t wait to see the unexpected words, close matches, impressive medal collections, and extremely specific rivalries that come out of it.
