How Things People Love builds with joy and care

At Things People Love, joy is part of the work. We build slowly enough to notice the small details, and carefully enough to make digital things feel warm, useful, and alive.

making joy

Joy is easy to talk about and harder to build with.

For us, it shows up in the small decisions: the line of copy that feels a little warmer, the interaction that needs one more pass, the moment where something technically works but doesn’t quite feel right yet.

That’s where we like to spend our attention.

Things People Love is built around a simple idea: digital things can still feel made by hand. A website, a form, a game, a tiny animation, even a button can carry a little care if someone takes the time to notice how it feels on the other side.

We try to make things that feel welcoming instead of transactional. Playful without being noisy. Polished without losing their little fingerprints.

That doesn’t mean every day is magical. Some days are checklists, broken layouts, awkward drafts, and testing the same thing again because the first fix only fixed half of it.

But even that can be part of the joy.

There’s something satisfying about making a rough edge smoother. About cutting the sentence that was trying too hard. About changing one detail and suddenly feeling the whole thing breathe a little better.

Love, in development, is mostly attention.

It’s asking if the person using this will feel invited in. It’s caring whether the experience is clear. It’s keeping the odd little spark instead of sanding everything flat.

That’s the work we’re interested in: making things with enough care that someone can feel it.

Not perfect things.
